How would I describe myself (in a nice way)?
I’d go with eclectic, spontaneous, and overly-animated. Of all the qualities or traits I could use to define who I am, those 3 come up the most with people that know me really well and people that don’t.
I consider myself pretty comfortable with the person I’ve developed into over my 31 years of life and can confidently say I have a strong sense of self, but I still have your typical creative-person’s sprinkle (read: crippling amount) of self-doubt and fear of all things imposter syndrome haha.
I’m known to be passionate about topics I care about – inclusion, diversity, equality – and love talking about anything and everything (like, literally EVERYTHING). I have a lot of empathy for how humans find their paths in life and, even when I disagree with someone, I can appreciate that all opinions come from a place of lived experience.
What do I (even) do?
I’m an artist
I have experience across several different types of mediums – my most prominent being digitally with clip studio art or sketchbook, and traditionally with watercolors.
I’m a reader
I won’t pretend that I only read really smart things even though I have a bookshelf full of smart looking books. While I have in fact spent some time skimming through a bit of philosophy and history, my favorite things to read are comics from Japan (which maaaay show in my artwork haha).
I’m a gamer
Being a 90s kid I grew up with Pokémon, Mario, and JRPGs. I still have mad love for Pokémon (ask me how many hours I played soulsilver) but lately my FAVORITE game is Final Fantasy 14.
I’m a biker
Not to be mistaken with ACTUAL bikers on motorized vehicles, my ride of choice is my mountain bike. I’m still learning but I really enjoy hurling myself down precarious trails laden with rocks and tree roots.
Where have I been (all your life)?
Birchcliff Energy
(2013 – 2022)
From receptionist to D&C Tech, my role at Birchcliff was integral in my professional development over the past 8 years. Through my experiences with the company I’ve learned how to manage projects, pitch ideas, develop programs, implement new processes, and collaborate across the board with people in different positions, teams, and backgrounds.
I had the pleasure of working with phenomenal mentors, supportive managers, and one of the coolest teams on the planet. I started with the company when I was ~23 years old, BIR helped me become a strong, confident, and caring professional.
Canada Post
(2010 – 2012)
Prior to starting with Birchcliff, I primarily worked in retail with my position as a postmaster being my last customer service role. If you asked me what the most challenging service role I’ve been in was…I’d probably say it was this one, but it was by far the most rewarding.
Working as a postmaster allowed me to develop skills as a leader, strategize on how to improve business at a small scale, and taught me valuable conflict resolution lessons that I still employ to this day.
